Eugene I. Cohen, O.D. 1923- 2020
Dr. Eugene Cohen graduated from North Illinois College of Optometry in 1949 with membership in the Tomb & Key Honor Society. He founded the practice shortly thereafter and was known for his antique collection of eyeglasses. |
Roy B. Cohen, O.D.
Dr. Roy Cohen graduated from the State University of New York, State College of Optometry in 1983 and has been seeing patients at Town Optical ever since. Dr. Cohen is devoted to his contact lens practice with a special interest in keratoconus and medical care of the eyes, including glaucoma treatment. Dr. Cohen is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Optometric Society of the City of New York.

Nicole Sangani, O.D.
Dr. Nicole Sangani (Cumella) received her doctorate degree from SUNY College of Optometry where she was awarded the Frederick W. Brock Memorial Award for outstanding clinical performance in vision therapy. She then continued her education by completing the Irwin B Suchoff residency in vision rehabilitation where she obtained advanced clinical training in vision therapy, pediatrics, and eye exams for children with special needs.
Dr. Sangani believes that both clear vision and efficient visual skills and processing are essential for reaching your full potential in school, work and overall well being. Her comprehensive approach to vision evaluates all aspects of the visual system, including how the eyes work together, focus, and track as well as how they integrate with the body and brain. She has effectively treated all types of binocular and eye movement disorders including, but not limited to, strabismus, amblyopia, eye coordination problems, learning-related vision problems, and visual processing deficits secondary to acquired brain injury. Dr. Sangani is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) and an active member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD).

Dr. Rebecca Aquije was born and raised in Queens, NY. She obtained a B.S. in Biology from St. John’s University and received her doctorate degree from SUNY College of Optometry. She was a recipient of the Dr. Max Cohen Memorial Award for Commitment to Community Service from SUNY in 2020.
Dr. Aquije furthered her education through the Irwin B. Suchoff Residency Program in Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation at SUNY College of Optometry. During her residency, she was the recipient of the Dr. Martin H. Birnbaum Memorial Award for Outstanding Knowledge and Skill in Behavioral Optometry. Dr. Aquije is strongly passionate in vision therapy and its positive impact on the lives of all patients struggling with binocular vision problems.

As a licensed optometrist, Dr. Forgacs provides exams, diagnoses, and treatments of all disorders that affect the eye or vision. In addition to training in eye diseases and disorders, Dr. Forgacs is also trained in anatomy, biochemistry, and physiology. With this background, Dr. Forgacs is trained to recognize a range of health issues; such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes and hypertension. Dr. Forgacs works hard to stay current on the latest advances in eye health and vision care and regularly attends continuing education seminars and advanced training courses. It is because of Dr. Forgacs's dedication to continuing education that our New York patients receive the most modern and progressive vision care available.
